As one of the most endearing movies of the summer, Julie & Julia made many viewers rediscover the joys
of pursuing exactly what they love. It is no secret that Julia Child (played by Meryl Streep), beloved chef and author, took up cooking, while forgoing everyone’s expectations, to find her passion. Her rise from housewife to household name inspired dozens of women, most notably Julie Powell. The movie features Julie (played by Amy Adams), a New York wife and unfulfilled government secretary, who takes up the task of working through Julia Child’s French cookbook in one year. Upon completion of her project and fueling her love for cooking, she takes a job at a butcher shop and hasn’t been happier. Both Julie and Julia took the plunge, creating experiences to last a lifetime and following their passion. Here’s some tips on getting you back on track with what you love:
- Take up an old hobby that time has forgotten. If it’s reading, pick up the inspiration for the movie: Julie & Julia by Julie Powell.
